  • Specific ideas about rollout to board, senior staff.
  • I need to see:
    • What is the scope and sequence?
  • More clearly endorse the Netter Center model.
  • Start the powerpoint by referencing the Netter Center and UB + BPS high-level buy-in. “Right now, that’s how we all understand why we’re here.”
  • Responding to Suzanne’s question: To what degree will the school have curricular flexibility?
    • Don’t ask the question first, don’t start with the demand.
    • Tell us what needs to happen.
    • Ask Alexa+Kristin to frame up what the kind of pedagogical model we’re looking for.
  • Add a slide envisioning the future:
    • Conditional admission + wrap-around
  • Elevate the role that Say Yes could play in supporting the transition.
  • “When you hear UACS, you are made aware of a missed opportunity.”

  • Get to the details – pushing ourselves
    • resources: What role can the university play simply by providing more people
  • Same per-pupil expenditure
  • What are the non-negotiables?
  • Emphasize outcomes by design.
  • What about extended learning?
    • Maker space.
  • Would it make sense to have the liasion have employment in both places?
    • Wil: Sure, maybe!
  • No university and school has been successful in integrating into the core curriculum.
  • What are the short-term and long-term infrastructure needs?
  • Dual enrollment is compelling. How many courses will be needed?
  • To what degree would students be able to pass AP CS A?
  • Early conditional admission to UB.
    • Alexa: What else can UB provide? Wrap-around support.
    • Maybe students could take a 3-credit course in the summer before admission.
    • Angela: Maybe students could live on campus during the summer.
    • Card.

Next steps

  • Thursday, 11am. Presentation with Superintendent.
    • Slightly shorter.
  • Develop next step of refinement:
    • Scope and sequence for students
  • Then another meeting before the Netter Center trip.
