  • Note: MAY 2025 is my deadline for tenure dossier.

  • Could I be ready by MAY 2024? That really depends on what I can get submitted this spring. Why would I choose to go up for tenure early?

    1. The salary bump stays with me for the rest of my career.
    2. Promotion from associate to full professor is based on what I’ve accomplished since gaining tenure. So going above-and-beyond before earning tenure is not as good as getting those publications out after earning tenure.
    3. We could go on sabbatical one year earlier.

  • Fall 2020: Year 1 (s1, 2)

  • Fall 2021: Year 2 (s3, 4)

    • Fall: First reappointment due

  • Fall 2022: Year 3 (s5, 6)

    • Spring: Second reappointment due

  • Fall 2023: Year 4 (s7, 8)

  • Fall 2024: Year 5 (s9, 10)

    • November: Draft statements
    • May: Submit complete dossier

  • Fall 2025: Year 6 (s11, 12)

    • September/October: Department vote
    • November/January: Personnel committee vote
    • February 1: Dossier to PRB
    • February: Start looking at Fulbright options.
    • May 2026: Tenure Notification

  • Fall 2026: Year 7, tenured.

    • September 2026: Fulbright application due
    • December: Fulbright initial notification
    • December: Initial sabbatical request due to department chair
    • January-June, 2027: Fulbright notification
    • February 1, 2027: Sabbatical application due to GSE

  • Fall 2027: Year 8: Sabbatical year (August 2027-June 2028)
