MWC Hardware Unit
Hardware unit
Program D1 Mini microcontrollers with Micropython. Connect buttons, LEDs, and I2C sensors. Provided libraries allow the microcontroller to connect to wifi, and pub/sub to arbitrary message queues hosted on a central server. Each student minimally needs to have their microcontroller (a) publish a stream of some data messages, and (b) have some behavior dependent on messages from another device.
Learning goals
- GPIO and pushing code to microcontroller: The interface between hardware and software.
- Message queues: Asynchronous, distributed tasks.
- Networking: Reinforcing IP addresses, HTTP requests, responses, parsing JSON.
