Synthesizing CAREER feedback

I got feedback from multiple sources: Christine, Dave, Virginia, SPS, and ORA. In this document I synthesize that feedback into sections of the proposal.

Introduction

Research design

  • Dave: There’s more detail than needed about prior work.

Research plan

  • Dave: this part really focuses on interdisciplinarity and who will do the work. Might want to prime the reader for this earlier in the proposal.
  • Justify why I don’t have a rep from SDUSD. (Simon letter suffices.)

Virginia’s feedback is enhancements; work with Christine’s first.

What I appreciate

  • Dave:
    • Lively conversation at the level of grammar
    • Specificic interrogation of critical claims
  • Christine:
    • Zooming out, consideration of the broader argument of the proposal

SCRATCH

Therefore, the plural computational litearcies refers to the many forms of computer-mediated cognition, communication, and action which might be recognizable as computer science. To be clear, in this proposal the term literacy is not used: to mean a general familiarity with or appreciation of a field (as in film literacy), to distinguish between “book smart” and “street smart” (as in the distiinction between literacy and fluency in language learning), or to refer to learning experiences which precede or complement computer science.
