Research idea on computational literacy and theory of mind
I remember in Bruce McCandliss’s class reading an article about the relationship between literacy and theory of mind. Basically, theory of mind develops as “like me but not, in particular ways” and emerges developmentally at the same time as imaginative play (like the real world, but not, in particular ways).
This is an example of experience-dependendent development. It didn’t have to be this way, but in a literate society this is the way it is. So what about in a society grounded in computational literacy? Might we notice elements of identity developing differently?
