Writing prompt: In your culture, community, what are opportunities to build on teh local community?

One thing I’ve been thinking about is the relationship between anthropological approaches and educational approaches. One the one hand, I think a lot of this design work crucially builds on ethnographic (as opposed to sociological) approaches to understanding cultures as understood by their practitioners, and to understand learning as a process within cultural processes. However, as Barab and others note, education cannot afford to just be anthropological: even when our goals are decolonial, liberatory, even anarchist, education is an interventionist project. We have goals, we do something to enact those goals.
