TLTL ANNOUNCE
Hi TLTL, I am excited to share the news that I have accepted an offer to join University at Buffalo’s graduate school of education as an Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences with a focus on CS Education, starting this fall.
It is a good time to be joining UB, as they are hiring seven tenure-line faculty over the next three years in Learning Sciences, with some joint appointments in CS, AI, engineering, and other technical fields, aiming to build a Learning Sciences program modeled on Northwestern’s. UB is the flagship campus of the SUNY system, with the lowest tuition of any R1 university in the AAU and is in the top 10% of US universities for student mobility (% of students moving from bottom quintile of income to the top quintile). The graduate students and the faculty are represented by unions, and everyone is really friendly (“midwestern nice, but actually nice”). It feels like a really good fit.
It’s still months away and I’ve still got some loose ends to tie off (e.g. dissertation), but as I start thinking about the transition I want you to know how grateful I am for this community and look forward to staying part of it. I’m happy to share anything about the process if it’s valuable.
