Dog Description
Rye and Canela are incredibly sweet siblings. Both are well-behaved–Rye tends to be more timid and lower-energy. He would be happy to cuddle with you on the sofa or under a table all day, and is sometimes nervous to go on walks during the day. Canela has higher energy and so much love. She wants to cuddle with you and lick you if you’re into it. Canela likes to go on walks and loves to run. Both are excellent with all humans–we’ve never had an incident of growling or aggression toward anybody. They reliably sit and somewhat reliably come. Both are also good with other dogs, though we are working with Canela on some leash reactivity. When this happens, she gets excited to go see the other dog and is frustrated by being on a leash, but expresses it by barking–which doesn’t make the other dog owner want to come say hi. The tail is still wagging though. When off leash (for example, at the dog park), Canela and Rye are both friendly and playful with other dogs.
Both dogs are very solidly potty-trained. Rye is happy to stay home alone, even for most of a day, with no problem. Canela can get bored if she doesn’t have a rope toy or a Kong with peanut butter, and has occasionally destroyed a book or pair of socks that were left in reach. We often leave her free in the house if we’re going away for less than two hours, and otherwise put her in her crate to make sure she doesn’t go exploring. We don’t feed the dogs human food, and don’t have any problem with begging or stealing food off of counters.
