Zuz Computer Upgrades

Zuz Computer Upgrades 2018-10-02 We are continuing with the update Zuz ran yesterday.  The Windows update succeeded, however the new system does not have any of Zuz’s files. How to get them back?     A. Mount the VHDX backup image and pull files out.     B. Run a virtual machine based on the backup image.

Strategy B.

Our current goal is to use Hyper-V to run a virtual machine off of the image of the previous version so that we can recover files lost in the upgrade.

To enable Hyper-V, we needed to make changes to BIOS:     Intel Virtualization: Enabled     VT-d: Enabled

Then we opened Hyper-V Manager and tried to boot from the image.      No UEFI-compatible filesystem detected.      Apparently the disk image is not bootable (or it isn’t being read properly).

Strategy A.  Let’s try a few more things https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/61391-mount-unmount-vhd-vhdx-file-windows-10-a.html

When we mount the VHDX file, it gets assigned drive letter K: (as we previously assigned). The file system is RAW. (Does this mean it’s encrypted?)
