Untitled (22)
Untitled Hey, brothers, Mom’s birthday is about a month away, and I was thinking that she might really enjoy taking a watercoloring class at Anderson Ranch, a really neat spot in Colorado where Katie has a bunch of painting classes over the years (and is doing another one in a few weeks). The total cost is about $1200 for a week – not cheap, for sure, but I suspect it’d be well worth it. We’ll also have to get her a place to stay.
Would you guys be interested in splitting the cost of this as a gift for mom? If an even four-way split is untenable for any of us, I imagine that we could also get creative in how we carve it up and still just have it be from all four of us.
Doug, planning this was a really nice gesture and I’m sure Mom will have a great time. I’m conflicted because I know Mom will enjoy it and particularly likes gestures coming from the four of us. At the same time, this kind of gift just isn’t in our budget—between loans and our academic/design futures, I see Zuz and I on a pretty different economic trajectory than you three. It’s a bigger conversation, but I’d like to find ways to spend time together that work for all of us, without creating imbalances of obligation that would come from relying on you to pay more than your share.
No worries, Chris. Hope you had a great trip! The gift to mom is from the four of us, even if three of us only are able to chip in this time.
