Stanford email problem
Stanford email problem I am a PhD student trying to send a simple email to my advisor with an attached draft of a paper. The email message was rejected by Stanford’s outgoing spam filter. The email message is attached to this request. This has been an ongoing issue, made particularly frustrating by the lack of response from Stanford IT support. This is now the third ticket requesting a resolution. The chain of help tickets is posted below. Despite having received the confirmation email below, I cannot find a record of ticket INC000004109718 on Stanford’s Services and Support webpage.
I would like to understand why my email is being blocked and for it to stop happening. I would like to receive assurance that I will be notified if my outgoing email is blocked in the future. If Stanford IT cannot or will not commit to making this happen, I would at least like to know so I can find an alternative email provider for my professional work.
Thanks for your help.

The HelpSU system has received and filed a HelpSU request with the incident ID of INC000004109718 including the following:
Requester Name: Chris Proctor Department: Education Phone Number: 3232300313 Request Category: Email and Calendar Request Type: General email question Description: I wanted to follow up on ticket INC00157103, in which I was asking for help debugging my outgoing email not being delivered. Jason helped locate the problem–apparently Stanford uses a spam filter which was blocking some of my outgoing email with no indication to me of their nondelivery. My emails being silently blocked led to my missing an opportunity to be part of a research project.
I have not heard back from a couple of people I’ve emailed, who I expected to hear from, on important matters regarding my PhD advisor status. As Stanford’s email system silently blocked prior outgoing emails, I am left unsure as to whether they ever received my email. I would like to know whether there is some way to check whether additional emails have been blocked, or whether I’ve been put on some blacklist.
I don’t mean to be snarky, but it seems like reliable email should be considered an essential service. If I can’t be guaranteed that my emails will be delivered (or at least that I’ll know they were not delivered), I’ll have to use a non-Stanford provider. If there is more information I can provide or any action I can take on my end to fix this situation, I’d be eager to hear. Thanks!
