(Note: This is somewhat similar to the gendered way we think of Scratch projects, where the better projects are not concerned with appearances, but with the algorithms. We don’t value HCI as highly as AI. (image/png) (image/png) Let’s think about this from a performativity perspective. Being part of that group that stays up late working changes your relationship to peers—you’re in the back of house together, where there’s some intimacy, room to explore and make mistakes. Possibly this is a reflex against broader performative expectations of masculinity.
