Paly Observations 1128
Paly Observations 11/28 12:05 Verde release
The boxes arrive, staff members arrive at the beginning of lunch to give them out. Standing in traffic headed off campus.
Some students curl them up, some flip through quickly. One copy on the ground. Usually with friends, calking and talking at the same time.
One group of three students; 2 have Verdes. One flips through, a friend comes over, closes it and talks with friend. Friend leaves; starts eating lunch. Another starts reading, keeps reading for five minutes.
Groups of 3-4 are most frequently reading Verde—not fewer or more. Always reading socially—saw one group reading quotations from Verde to peers. Almost always all male or all female.
By 12:30, fewer students engaging with Verde. More still holfding it, but more often engaged with mobile phones. Waves of students returning are holding lunches, either put Verde away or threw it away.
Interviews: I’ll probably read it later in history class. I don’t usually read it, I was given it.
