Connection: How could you make interactive stories using your web skills? Go to your tables and come back with an idea for how you could do this.

  1. You could make separate webpages with links between them.
  2. You could add buttons or pictures that link to other pictures.

Can anyone refresh me on what kind of stories we’ve done so far?       Stories about dialogue, stories having choices, stories about perspective.            And what kind of perspective?                 Stories about seeing things from the point of view of animals and other people.

To get you more comfortable writing something about yourself, as a game.

I sit down with Sammy to talk about her story. It’s the story of Cinderella.  talked about the challenges of having a mixed family. dad bribes daughter with iPhone because he wants custody, she resents being manipulated.

Ximena: In my story, there are lots of different ways to die.  You are trying to look for three things. There are two ways to find them—either a fun way or a boring way. In the fun way, you go inside a bubble.  Amy: In my story, you can change perspective. If you win, you can choose to go on a boat or go to the bathroom.  Nicole: I made mine into a website.  I’m writing about Cinderella, but not exactly Cinderella. It’s basically Cinderella, but you also find out how the stepmother feels about the dad.  Where did you get that idea from?  I don’t know. It just popped into my head.  In my first story, I was trying to do the three little pigs, and the mom was trying to give them the materials, the bricks to the most worthy one.

Chris! When are we going to do the debugging workshop? I have one part of my story where she asks you a question, but you can’t answer.

Gaby:  What’s the big takeaway for the story? Do you want people to laugh? Do you want to show them your neighborhood? “I want it to be so descriptive that anyone playing it can get a picture in their head. Once they know your big takeaway, they can experience your story and tell you how they did with the big takeaway.  Stars and a wish.

Nicole: Are we going to have time to work on our stories? (Several other students also asked whether they could work on their stories as well, or wanted help debugging. )
