Working well weekly team meetings makerspace playbook
SUPER request: If a teacher signs in, include grade level, project.
Teachers are usually coming, doing units. they usually start off coming for a particular lesson—say circuits. Then, they want to do something else, and then they keep coming every week at the same time. Students can earn time at the makerspace as a reward. (Others give them out randomly using equity sticks)
Diana: Lessons learned, best practices suggest another level of staffing Sustainability is a big deal. It’s hard to find teachers, especially when you’re just hiring for a few months. How can we sustain this based on our current budgets? We are very fortunate that we found people willing to take the job at the pay level it’s at. Nico is going to be the makerspace coordinator.
Robert: advertised for a teacher for the space—nobody applied. Not a permanent position.
Nico will become the makerspace coordinator; hiring a new k-8 STEM coordinator. Posting for a new materials manager. Aiming for another Dave Hicks-esque position, a teacher who is holding electives.
—> How can we make the makerspaces a plus for teacher recruitment in general? Teacher release periods?
Hired for release time so teachers can collaborate.
