Research agenda

I want to focus on the relationship between social systems and technological systems in the context of education. This question is motivated by the ongoing gap between our constructionist dreams for how technology could transform education and the unencouraging history of technological (non)adoption in our schools.

  • Look at tech adoptions such as the Ravenswood makerspaces project;
  • Consider interactions between tech-mediated understandings and the social construction of knowledge (communities of practice)
  • Effect of tech on social structures; New social organizations made possible by tech

More broadly, I believe schools to be an important site for generating our cultural future; I want to work toward a future in which our technology augments our thinking rather than doing it for us.
