Bertrand Study PFL is an assessment framework, trying to measure transfer of understandings and learning strategies instead of factual acquisition.

What are the learning goals? (Should probably be practices, learning strategies…)

What is the construct of “Making” which is relevant here? Which practices do we think these afford well?      Computational Thinking?           It’s CT practices (iterative building, methodical testing, abstraction and modularization)      Embodied learning?           It’s about using tangible senses      Social learning?           It’s about talking with other people      Discovery?

Bertrand says:      Physical to some extent      Making from something that’s not pre made (You do the framing)           Discovery (The result is not known)

What about Stanford Farm classes?

Ask people to explain the concept—do they use the tools?
