Why Students Drop Out of High School
Why Students Drop Out of High School In many ways these four types embody the range of circumstances under which students leave high school prior to graduation. Some leave with a powerful critique of schooling and/or its labor market potential. Some must attend to their families’ social and health needs, making schooling irrelevant and/or disruptive. Others have internalized social ideologies about their inabilities, their uselessness, and they “opt” to leave schools. And finally many, perhaps most, are severed in their connection from schools by those schools they have a legal right to attend.
