Implementation notes

  1. Setup      -A.  Go to https://www.arduino.cc and download the Arduino software           - host the zip file locally so they all get the right version and so it goes faster                 - Unzip and drag to applications (before opening)           - Open!      - B. Download Flora Board (https://learn.adafruit.com/getting-started-with-flora)           - Open Arduino           - In Preferences, add package manager url: http://adafruit.github.io/arduino-board-index/package_adafruit_index.json           - In Tools, select “Boards” then “Boards Manager”, find AdaFruit AVR Boards, choose Install           - In Tools, select “Boards”, then choose “AdaFruit Flora"           - Include a note that kids who want to keep learning should start here      - C. Download Flora sensors           - In Sketch, select “Include Library”, then “Manage Libraries           - Find AdaFruit NeoPixel (NOT NeoMatrix). (Current version is fine)           - Find AdaFruit Unified Sensor. (Current version is fine)           -           //  - In Sketch, select “Include Library”, then choose “AdaFruit NeoPixel”. (remember import in Python?)

  2. Let’s make it go!           - Plug in the Arduino (It’s a little computer! What does your computer do when you turn it on?)           - Choose the right port           - What program is loaded on this? (Blinky light)           - Hook up the Neopixel                - black, yellow, red                 - Now we need a program that can use this!                - Open Arduino, open “File/Examples/AdAFruit/simple” (or one of our own)

RICHARD WILL       Write our little library

BIG IDEAS      inputs, outputs      looping, iteration      math: modulo      hex      don’t kill your hardware. It’s sensitive.

CHRIS WILL DO      giant foam accell      big lilypad
